Counselling for men

It is still difficult for men today to admit that they have issues and that they need help

You know that something isn't right - you shouldn't be feeling like this.

Feeling angry at the slightest thing? Violent towards your partner?
Easily overwhelmed by problems at work or at home.
Are your friends and family worried for you?
Do you feel that you are drinking too much or too often?
Are you worried about losing touch with your children and/or your partner?
Have you lost your confidence and want to get back to how you "used to be"?
Confused about how it all came to this?
No one to talk to who will understand?

I can help and together we can start making things better for you and those around you.

While we will spend time looking at the practical stuff - how you want things to be  - if you just want a quick fix then we can spend time on
  • identifying your triggers for problem behaviour
  • working on alternative responses

if you want a structured approach then we can spend time working out :
  • your values,
  • your preferred behaviour,
  • your beliefs and
  • your boundaries
  • what lies behind your problem behaviour
to build your personal "code" that will support you going forward with the rest of your life.

Solution Focused therapy and Person Centred therapy  work together to help you

There are two sides to getting your life back on track:  one side is identifying the target - where you want to be and how you want to be; the other side is the internal work needed to find out how you got here.
By mixing Solution Focused therapy - which focuses on the changes we want to happen, the goals we want to reach, and Person Centred therapy - which focuses on understanding our feelings and accepting where we are - we can start to address both sides of the process to get you back to where you want to be.
